Melbert Lee Schnelle passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 at the age of 86 in his home at Meinert, Missouri. He was born on December 15, 1926 in Meinert, the son of Walter and Clara (Buente) Schnelle.
Melbert attended Zion Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Lockwood High School in 1944. After serving two years in the Army during the Korean Conflict, he returned to farm with his Dad and brother Harold.
On June 8, 1952, he married Doris Lampe in Freistatt, Missouri. They shared sixty-one wonderful years together. Melbert's greatest joys were farming with his three sons and spending time with his family. He was an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood, Missouri, serving in various capacities.
Melbert was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Troy Schnelle. He is survived by his wife Doris; his children, Carol and husband David Finck of Washington, Missouri, Diane and husband Greg Black of Buffalo, Missouri, Dale and wife Melody of Spring Hill, Kansas, Merle of Lockwood, Jerry and wife Tina of Golden City, Missouri. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his brother Harold and wife Jean.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 1, 2013 from 5-8PM at the Family Life Center, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lockwood, Missouri. Funeral services will be Monday, September 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM, also at Immanuel Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Meinert, Missouri. Pugh Funeral Home, Golden City, Missouri will handle arrangements.
