Ruth Wahl, 90, of Akron died Thursday, one day before her 91st birthday, at Sterling Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
Mrs. Wahl was born April 15, 1915, on a farm at Woodale, Okla., to John and Rosa (Everett) Abbott. She graduated from high school at Fairview, Okla. In 1935, she married Raymond Wahl, and they moved to Akron in 1947. They raised horses, cattle, feed and wheat. She still lived on the home place at the time of her death. Driving tractors and helping load horses in the farm truck at fair time were just a natural part of her life while trying to keep tabs on six children and feed everyone from family to harvest crews.

She loved music. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Akron and loved messages from scriptures. Times she referred to as special in her life included years working in the Washington County Hospital caring for people and in the earlier years on the road with her husband's harvest crews. She would cook for the workers in a tent on a one-burner camp stove.

Mrs. Wahl is survived by two daughters, Wilma Wade of Loveland and Lois Jones of Yuma; two sons, Ken Wahl of Akron and Don Wahl of Sterling; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Raymond; two grandsons, David Wahl and Kurtis Wahl; two sons, Wayne and Raymond Jr.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice or to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Akron with Rev. Susan Spencer officiating. Interment will follow in the Akron Cemetery with Brenner Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
