Notes for Ruth Rosalie Kleibacker
Ruth Kleibacker Richard, widow of legendary St. Bernard Coach Charlie Richard, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013. She was born March 15, 1910, and was a life long resident of Cullman, Ala., and a life long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
During the tenure of Coach Charlie at St. Bernard, she was considered the “1st Lady of St. Bernard.” Before her marriage, she was a cashier at Stiefelmeyer’s Department Store where her Dad, Charles Hudson Kleibacker, ran the Men’s Department. She was the only sister of the late Charles J. Kleibacker, famed New York Dress Designer. She was a devoted Wife and Mother.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Anne Knight (Wade); four sons: John Richard (Louise), Walter Richard, Danny Richard, Robert Richard (Karen); four grandchildren: Kurt Knight (Tanya), Kevin Knight, Maria Richard Singleton (Josh), Charles Richard; and one great-grandchild, Jake Knight.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Coach Charlie Richard; parents: Charles Hudson Kleibacker and Frances Link Kleibacker; and brother, Charles J. Kleibacker.
A Rosary will be held at Moss Service Funeral Home on Monday, July 1. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. with the Rosary following at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 2 at 10 a.m. with Father Patrick Egan, O.S.B., officiating the Rosary and Funeral Mass. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
