Harry L. Clanton, age 90, of Wentworth, MO died on Monday, July 10, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. Mr. Clanton was born in Elgin, KS on Friday, November 26, 1926. He was the son of Haywood and Marie (Thornburg) Clanton. Harry married Venetia Carr on Friday, September 02, 1949, in Glendora, CA, and she preceded him in death in January. 2005. Mr. Clanton was a well-known mechanic and a member of the Pony and Mule Driver's Association. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Clanton attended the Baptist Church.
Surviving are his the following: three children, Harold Clanton and wife, Margene, of Wentworth, MO, Dee L. Fieldings and husband, Tom, of Washburn, MO, and Donna Johnson and husband, Kenneth, of Pawhuska, OK; one sister, Marilyn Murphy of Bradenton, FL; two brothers, Bob Clanton of Wentworth, MO and Fred Clanton of Beggs, OK; five grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on Monday, July 17, 2017, from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, beginning at 1:00 PM with Rev. Bill Long officiating. Burial will follow at Van Buren Cemetery in Wentworth, MO.
Memorials may be made to the Ride for Life Kidney Foundation.
