FRIEDERS, Erma of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011 following a lengthy battle with breast cancer. She was born May 28, 1936 to Glenn and Beulah Mortimer in Munderf, Pennsylvania where she grew up. She graduated from Brookville High School in 1955. Later that year she married John Benson and moved to Bay City, MI, where she spent most of her adult life. The marriage was dissolved in 1980. In 1983, she married Gary Frieders. After retiring as the Superintendent's Secretary from the Bay City Public Schools, she relocated to Bel Air, Maryland, where she lived at the time of her death. She is survived by three children: Edwin Benson and his wife Silvia of York, Pennsylvania, Karen Benson and her husband John of Abingdon, Maryland, and Karla Frieders of New York City, New York. She is also survived by three grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters. Following her retirement, her greatest pleasures were spending time with her grandchildren and frequent traveling. Plans for a memorial service to be held in Western Pennsylvania are incomplete at this time. Internment will be in the Munderf Cemetery near her birthplace. Her loving presence will be sadly missed by her husband, children, siblings, and all of her other friends and relatives.
