Notes for Jody Brezeale

Jody Jay Breazeale

Jody Jay Breazeale, 60, was born in Springfield on March 10, 1957 to Paul and Evaline Breazeale. He died September 29th at home surrounded by loved ones. He was an amazing son, a devoted husband, major-league father, beloved brother and comical uncle. Playing men's slow and fast pitch softball, watching baseball and creative writing were his hobbies.

As a ball player Jody was a "quick on his feet" shortstop, with an excellent batting average. In 2003, he was inducted into the Springfield ASA Softball Hall of Fame. On and off the field, Jody mentored and taught the love of the game to young ball players. From the field to the classroom, Jody believed in good sportsmanship and giving 100% effort.

He was a mathematician and turned this skill into a 30 year career as a rates analyst with Toth and Associates. Combining his love for math and baseball, he organized and managed a fantasy baseball league for over 25 years.

He is survived by his wife Anita, son Aaron (Shalene), mother Evaline, brothers Andy (Kathy), Terry (Michelle), sister Paula (Rev. Ross Stuckey) a special cousin Dave who was like a brother, and cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Paul.

Jody was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. With a special knack for making children laugh and smile, he was active for years with the preschool Sunday school.

Though Alzheimer's Disease robbed him of memory and abilities, it couldn't steal away his love for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 5.

Memorial donations may be made to the
