Notes for Carl Bernhardt Gaulke
Carl Gaulke was born in Germany, and emigrated to Philadelphia. In 1910 they left Philadelphia and went to Wheaton MN. Carl was a union member and worked at a brewery in Philadelphia. Carl got discouraged with the Union and or progress in his work at the brewery. Due to this he moved to Minnesota and bought a farm there. George was the only living son. His brother died at the age of 2 or 2 1/2 years. Carl had a long smoking pipe (assumed 19th cent.) from Germany, that he handed down to his son, George. HIs wife Leona, gave this to Glenn Kruse, and his son Dennis now has the pipe.
