Newport.

proved 31 Jan 1675. He appoints his "trusty and well beloved
friend and yokefellow" Mary, whole and sole executrix, with
assistance from his sons William and Benjamin; who are to see
the will carried out after her death. Witnesses, John Heath,
Samuel Cornell. To wife Mary whole estate during her life. To
son Zuriel 20 acres at decease of testator's wife, and Zuriel
to pay brothers Benjamin and William £3. To son Benjamin the
homestead at decease of mother; he paying to his sisters
Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Deliverance £2 each. The remainder of
estate equally to 3 daughters and son William.

In 1672, he was a member of the Town Council, and the
following year he was on a committee to treat with the Indians
about drunkenness. "Seariously to consult and agree of some way
to prevent the extreme excess of the Indians' drunkenness. The
sachems herein intended to be treated withall, are Mawsup and
Ninecraft of the Narragansetts, Philip of Mt. Hope, Weetamo of
Pocasset, Awashunk of Seaconnett; or so many of them as do
appear."
