Dennis,
I checked with Aletha today, and she said she did remember hearing that Grandpa played guitar in a band for weddings and such for a while, but she didn't know if it was with his brothers or someone else. Sure wish I would have been older, taken more time, and asked more questions before everyone was gone that could have shared more of these stories!! Thanks for all your hard work on this so we can learn as much as possible about our ancestors! Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
Cheryl
Hi Dennis,
I'm sorry I didn't get your email from last week answered. It seems like we've been unusually busy lately.
Sam's article was interesting, and I remember hearing about the band at the last reunion. I don't know if Gustav was a part of it, as he was considerably younger than a lot of his siblings. I don't remember ever hearing about him playing much. My sister (Aletha) remembers hearing a story about Grandpa (Gustav) playing the guitar when he was serenading and courting our Grandma Maria. I believe that is what we had on the card when we displayed it at the reunion. I will check with her, and let you know if I find out anything more.
Hope you and yours are doing well!
Cheryl
