He married 5 June 1878Edith Alberta Dean, born 19 June 1873 at Wood bury, Iowa and died 1Sept. 1956 they married at Kingsley, Iowa. They had a son, RichardDe an Tallman born 27 Oct. 1879 at Grand Island, Nebr. and died 24April 1974 at Chicago, Ill . Ile married 29 Nov. 1940 at Chicago,Grace Fink Holverscheid born 2 May, 1889 at South Ben d, Ind. and died30 June 1984 'at Tryon, N.C. They had no children.
Miller Tallman and his wife, Elizabeth Ault Winn also had a daughter,Lenore who married Uria h Thorpe, They had a son, Raymond who marriedPatricia Bellamy and their son was Robert Thor pe of Cedar Rapids,Iowa (1987) who married Karen Spicer.
Descendant, Robert A.J. Thorpe (3029 Mansfield Ave., Cedar Rapids,Ia. 52403-3042), says "W hile Benjamin Tallman appears to have beenfairly well-to-do, he was not the richest man in t he county andbarely any references can be found of him in the county histories."Willis G Ta llman (Jan 25, 1874-Jan 24, 1943), son of Miller Tallman,was president of the Great Wester n Insurance Company of Des Moines,Iowa and vice president and director of Washington Nationa l Insurance
company.
His son, Richard Dean Tallman and wife, Grace F. Haverscheid operatedthe Normandy House Rest aurant in Chicago, a great success, known forsuperior food and interesting clientele. Dic k Tallman composedmusical comedy which was published. Grace was a concert soprano.
