Emma’s Obituary:
Mrs. Emma Hass, nee Gaulke, was born in Germany, October 26, 1868 and came to AMerica in 1887. Ub /1894 nshe was united in marriage to William Hass, a widower with eight children. Mr Hass preceded her in death in 1903 after which Mrs. Hass made her home in Wheaton for about 20 years. During this time, she was a faithful member of our congregation and a number of our members still today cherish the Word of God which they learned from her as a Sunday School Teacher. She moved to Minneapolis for a period while here children attended the University. For the past 18 years she made her home with her daughter Leila, first in Libertyville IL, and for the past two years in Boulder CO. During the past Christmas Season, Mrs. Hass contracted a severe attack of influenza, from which she never rallied, and she was finally called to her eternal home Friday Morning May 26. The remains were brought back to Wheaton where the funeral service was held last Monday from our church. Burial was in the Wildwood Cemetery. Mrs. Hass reached the age of 81 years and six months.
