He was born in Hannover, as was his wife. The Bohnenkamp's owned a couple of farms in Achmer, Lower Saxony, Germany in the 1880 land records. They were next door to the Macke farm where the Meyer family lived.
Rudolph and Elise emmigrated before the rest of the family arrived
Son Fritz was born in Illinois.
1870 Census - 21 yrs old, living in Township 1, Range 4, Washington Co., Illinois pg 476.
1872 - Their son is born in Washington Co.. Illinois (Ebenezer Lutheran Church Birth Records)
1874 - Rudolph and his wife are listed in the Ebenezer Lutheran Church records in Washinton Co., Ill.
1878 - Rudolph and his wife take Communion at Ebenezer Lutheran Church on April 18 in Washinton Co., Ill.
1880 Census - 33 yrs old, living with Elise and son in Spring River, Lawrence Co., Missouri. ED 88, pg 526B
1900 Census - 52 yrs old, widowed, living with his son Fred and daughter in law, and their children in Freistatt, Lawrence Co., Missouri. ED 89, sht 4 B
1910 Census - 63 yrs old, widowed, living with son Fred and his family in Cedar Township, Caddo Co., Oklahoma. ED 52, pg 56
According to the 1900 Census, Rudolph immigrated in 1866. He owned his farm in Freistatt free and clear. His son, Fred, and Fred's wife Wilhemine and their 2 children, Martin and Walter, were living with him, along with a boarder, Emma Lampe, aged 9.

He arrived on the ship "America" on May 26, 1866 from Bremen to Castle Garden in New York. His name on the passenger list is "Rudolph Bonekamp".

[D. Kruse checked this in 2017, found a R. Bonekump on Ship America list arrived 26 May 1866 but age 18 so born in 1848. No other relatives listed on Passenger list Not sure earlier note is accurate]

[D. Kruse also found a H Bohenkamp on the ship: Fortuna which arrived November 1, 1867 in Galveston Texas. He was 20 years old and the ship sailed from Bremen]

On 3 Jul 1902, an indenture was made between Rudolph Bohnenkamp and Gottlieb Gliedt. The parcel of land contained 100 acres more or less and was described as: "The East half of the Northwest quarter of Section (34), Township (27), Range (27), and the South half of the Northeast quarter of the Northwest quarter of Section (11), Township (26), Range (27), West of the Fifth Principal Meridian in Freistatt, MO
