Notes for Meta Marie Kleiboeker

Meta’s sponsors at her baptism were: Theodor Moennig, Fredericke Kottmeyer and Marie Kleiboeker. She was baptized by Rev. J. E Roschke at Trinity Lutheran in Freistatt MO.
Meta graduated from Freistatt Elememtary School in 1930. Meta was always quite good at School, she was frequently in the local papers for being on the High School Honor Roll. Then she went on to public school at the Raitel Schook in 1931. She graduated from Pierce City High School in 1936, she was Vice President of her Senior Class.

Meta attended Missouri State University in Springfield, then called STC. While at STC, she was a member of the STC German Club and studied Spanish as well.

She was written up in a local newspaper article when she was a Freshman then, and the headline read: “STC Girl speaks two languages with ease”. She was quoted as saying “I think College is very nice. It’s so easy to get acquainted here, and the work isn’t nearly as difficult as I expected.” Meta lived at 742 National Ave, and the article said she plans on becoming a primary teacher.

Meta also attended PSU in Pittsburgh Kansas. Meta was certified as a public School teacher on July 1 1937. She was a teacher first in Pleasant View School in Lawrence County, MO Duenweg Elementary School, and Martin Luther Parochial School in Joplin MO. In April 1963, She was employed by Jasper County Family Services as Child Welfare Worker. Meta retired on disability in September 1974.

Meta was a lifelong Lutheran, holding membership in Trinity (Freistatt) and in Faith (Cathage) from 1940 to 1982. She was a member of the LWML and taught Sunday School.
