Notes for Diane Welp
Diane Rose (Welp) Lensing was born September 12, 1935 in Bancroft, Iowa to Joseph H. Welp II and Bernice Wilhelmi Welp. She passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 after an eight year battle with Dementia and three year battle with Parkinson's disease....

Diane attended twelve years of school at St John's Catholic School, graduating in 1953 and then two years at Clarke College (all girls' Catholic school) in Dubuque, IA. From there she attended and graduated in 1957 from Iowa University majoring in Elementary Education.

She was united in marriage to Vernon H. Lensing on August 17, 1957 at St John Catholic Church in Bancroft, IA officiated by Rev J.H. Schultes. Vernon attended Iowa State College for a year and then completed his Engineering Study at Milwaukee School of Engineering majoring in Computer Science.

She accompanied Vern to his employment with Burroughs Corp. and located first in Kalamazoo, MI and then in Lansing, MI. During his thirty years employment, she excelled as a mother and homemaker. Her specialty was cooking whereas she attempted a new recipe at least once a week. Success was achieved many times, her secret was using fresh ingredients and following the directions. She also loved Counted Cross Stitch, knitting, basket-weaving and playing cards.

Retirement took them to Vista CA. Diane became involved in the San Marcos Christian Women's Club (a non-denominational group of 145 women) and served as treasurer for six years before Alzheimer's interfered with her mathematical requirements. The organization also allowed six to eight women to meet weekly at individual's homes for an organized Bible study. Retirement travels included The Baltic Sea Cruise, Alaskan Cruise, Panama Canal Cruise, Two European River Cruises, Spain/Portugal Tour, and the Australian/New Zealand/Fiji Island Tour. Another one of her accomplishments during her lifetime is that she had set foot in every state in the United States.

Survivors include Vernon; and oldest son Bryan who is married to Sherry Stoddard and they have three boys; Justin, Tyler, and Jake residing in Lansing, MI. David is the next boy marrying Karen Bohland and they have twins Cameron and Andrew and a daughter Hannah and reside outside of Washington, D.C. Susan was the first girl and was aptly named even before she was born; we always wanted a Susan. She is married to Kevin Day and they reside in Solona Beach, CA. They have two children, Madison (Aafje) and Brogan. Next is Sally who married Dan Barberio, a contractor, and they live in Laingsburg, MI and also have two children, Malinda and Vincent. Mary Clare married William Kimble and they reside in Dewitt, MI. and also have two children, Nathan and Audra.

Also surviving are her three brothers; James F Welp and Ruth Woolley Welp of Prescott, AZ; Donald J Welp and Sarah Everingham of Estes Park, CO; and Joseph H Welp III and Bonnie Wood Welp of Prescott, AZ.

Preceding Diane in death was her first son, Theodore who passed away at 6 months, her parents Joseph Welp II and Bernice Wilhelmi Welp."
