Notes for Ida Caroline Steinike
Ida’s obituary:

Ida Caroline Steinike was born December 22, 1906 to August and Pauline (nee Volpp) Steinike at Bloomfield, Nebraska. She was baptized January 29 1907.

The Steinike family moved to a farm south of First View when Ida was still very young. At the time of their arrival there were no Lutheran services except for those conducted by circuit riders. During the summer, Pastor Bunde Skov canvassed the area and found enough Lutherans to organize a congregation which later became Grace Lutheran Church. The Steinike’s were active in organizing the church as the congregation grew.

Ida was confirmed in the faith on May 15, 1921. She was united in marriage to Ervin A. Kleiboeker on August 16, 1928 at Cheyenne Wells. They were blessed with one son, Kenneth.

The family lived on a ranch southwest of Kit Carson. She was active in the Church Guild and Busy Bee Club. She was a true partner with Ervin in working their farm along with cooking wonderful meals for large groups of men that came at harvest and branding times.

Upon Ervin’s death she sold the ranch and moved to Cheyenne Wells. She was active in the Senior Citizens group for years and delighted in taking her grandchildren to meetings when they stayed with her on vacations. Her greatest joys in later years were her sisters, with whom she shared many talents, daughter in law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren along with her extended family of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, her parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by: 2 sisiters, Frieda Jessen of Bloomfield NE, and Elsie Pursley of Cheyenne Wells; a sister-in-law Halen Kleiboeker of Kit Carson; abother-in-law Pat Kleiboeker and wife Juanita of El Cojon, CA; daughter-in-law Katie Krausman adn husband Karl of Erie, CO; 2 granddaughters, Carolyn Vanfossen of Dacono, CO; and Linda Leonard of Fort Collins, CO; a grandson, David Kleiboeker of Erie CO; 4 great grandchildren, Donald, Sarah and Kenny Daub, and Nichole Krausman as well as many other relatives and friends. The memory of her gentle, quiet spirit and quick wit will always remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
