According to 1930 Census, his parents were from Russia

Edgar W. Degan, 54, president of the Sheahan and Degan Plumbing Co., died Friday morning at his home, 1923 High.

Mr. Degan was born July 18, 1918 in Salina and lived in Topeka since he was a year old.

He was employed by the Frisco and the Santa Fe Railway companies for a number of years. In 1921 he became associated with the Sheahan Plumbing Co. as office manager. Later he became a member of the firm. W. F. Sheahan, his partner, died in 1951 while on a vacation trip in Mexico.

In addition to operating the plumbing establishment, Mr. Degan was owner of the Triangle Industrial Sites Development at 21st and Kansas. He was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gertrude M. Degan, of the home; a son, Edgar W. Degan, Topeka; two daughters, Susanne Degan of the home, Mrs. Frances Sunday, Lamar, Colo.; two brothers, George and John Degan, both of Chicago; 6 sisters, Sister Margaret Georgiana, Xaviar, Kan., Mrs. Margaret Pommier, Portland, Ore., Mrs. M. J. Schoenfeld, Mrs. Charles Clerico, Mrs. Karl Knoll and Agnes Degan, all of Topeka, and three grandchildren.
