Vera Kruse
Vera B. (Kleiboeker) Kruse, age 92, of Aurora, MO, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, while at the Aurora Nursing Center. We will all miss her constant smile and laughter that provided so much joy and happiness to everyone.
Vera was born on March 20, 1918 in Wentworth, MO, the daughter of the late August Kleiboeker and Hulda (Rusch) Kleiboeker. Vera grew up in the Freistatt and Pierce City area, speaking German at home, at church and throughout her elementary education at Trinity Lutheran School until her graduation from eighth grade.
She then attended and graduated from Pierce City High School. She worked at Camp Crowder during WWII, and later moved to Kansas City, working for the federal government there. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kansas City and her involvement with its Walther League led her to meet her future husband, Glenn Kruse. They were married on Nov. 27, 1952 in Freistatt, MO and then moved to Iowa City, Iowa.
Vera was blessed with three children: Gary, Dennis and Sandra. She later returned to work at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City where she worked in admissions. She was a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City and served with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Evangelism and Human Care ministries and was a Cub Scout Den mother. She was very happy to return to her roots in Southwest Missouri upon retirement where she was a faithful and blessed member of Grace Lutheran Church in Aurora, MO.
Vera lost her husband, Glenn on Oct. 12, 2008. Vera is survived by her son: Gary Kruse, and his wife, Barbara Boughton, of El Cerrito, CA and son Dennis Kruse, and his wife Lori, of Leesburg, VA; one daughter: Sandra Morfitt, and her husband, Reverend Steven, of Brownsville, Texas; two brothers: Alvin Kleiboeker, of Stotts City, MO and Lorn Kleiboeker, of Wentworth, MO; one sister: Lorene Buescher, of Portland, OR; four grandchildren: Audrey and Alex Kruse and Lya and Adriana Morfitt; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
The Kruse family will be holding a visitation on Sunday, October 31 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett, MO. The funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, MO. Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorial gifts can be designated in Vera's honor and sent to the Trinity Lutheran School, 218 N Main St, Freistatt, Missouri 65654.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
