Glenn H. Kruse of Aurora, MO, died at the age of 91 at the Aurora Nursing Center on October 12, 2008. Born on January 22, 1917, in Morrill, Kansas, Glenn was the son of Daniel F. and Amalia Mae Brockhoff Kruse. He grew up on a farm in northeast Kansas and graduated from Kansas State with a bachelor of science in agriculture economics. He taught high school vocational agriculture for two years and then served in the Armed Forces during World War II. He was enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was part of the 531st fighter squadron with duty in the Pacific Theater. After the war he met Vera Kleiboeker in Kansas City. They were married on November 27, 1952, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt, MO. Glenn was active in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod on both the local and district level. He was a charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City, Iowa, and a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Aurora, MO. At both churches he taught confirmation, Sunday school, and adult Bible classes as well as served as Elder and congregation chairman. He also served as district president of the Lutheran Layman’s League. He retired after working 37 years for Sears Roebuck where he held many different roles there including automotive department manager, division manager, and farm store manager. In his leisure time Glenn was an avid photographer, and his photographs of the people and places he visited gave delight to his family and friends. A dedicated and loving husband and father, Glenn is survived by his wife, Vera, and his children and their spouses, Dennis (Lori) and Gary (Barbara) and daughter Sandra (Steven) Morfitt. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Audrey and Alex Kruse and Lya and Adriana Morfitt, as well as his sister, Hazel Kruse, and two brothers, Leo and Ken Kruse. The Kruse family will be holding a visitation on Thursday, October 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett, MO. The funeral service will take place Friday, October 17, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Aurora, MO, with Rev. Ben Schumacher officiating. Interment will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Freistatt, MO. Memorial gifts can be designated in Glenn’s honor to the Lutheran Hour Ministries. Services for Glenn Kruse, 91, of Aurora, who died October 12, were held at 10:30 a.m. October 17 at Grace Lutheran Church in Aurora with Rev. Ben Schumacher officiating. Music include Just As I Am Without One Plea, How Firm A Foundation, and Abide With Me. Keyboardist was Judy Ruckman. Eulogy was read by Dennis Kruse. Casketbearers were Alex Kruse, Dwight Kruse, Kent Schnelle, Dan Kleiboeker, Nolan Kleiboeker, and David Kleiboeker. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Freistatt under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Military rites were conducted by members of Hobbs-Anderson Post 91 Monett American Legion under the command of Gene Cunningham. Rifleman were Gene Spivy, Dick Gibson, Ron Branum, Tom Pinkley, and Melvin Kennedy. Color guard was comprised of Dennis Housman, Wayne Rutherford, Cody Jones, and Bob Mareth. Bugler was Jon Suit. Flag folders were Nick Sczenski and Bob Painter.

mailing address is RR 1, Wentworth, MO 64873. In 1990 this is still the home of Vera's brother Lorn.

Glenn was born on a farm 1 mile south and 1/2 mile east of Morrill, known as the Stover Place.
He was a high school vocational agriculture teach for two years then enlisted
in the US Air Corp on April 4 1942 and discharged on January 4 1946.He worked
for Sears Roebuck and Company for 37 years. He lived with his familyat 1310
Franklin St Iowa City from 1953-1963. Then at 2816 Brookside Dr from1963-1988.
